JBA Consulting appointed as Aviva Specialist Partner for Flood Risk Assessment for insurance purposes

We are excited to have been appointed as an Aviva Specialist Partner to provide Flood Risk Assessment for insurance purposes. This will see us provide a range of services, whilst continuing to develop a strong and collaborative, customer-focused relationship with Aviva and the insurer's commercial customers in the United Kingdom. This partnership demonstrates JBA and Aviva's commitment to improving flood resilience and to supporting businesses to increase their understanding and mitigation to flood risk.

What services are we providing and what are the benefits?

Our services to Aviva as a Specialist Partner include: 

  • On-site hazard assessment survey  
  • Flood Risk Assessment for insurance purposes report
  • Outline design of mitigation options including Property Flood Resilience (PFR), resilience adaptation, Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS), boundary defences and Natural Flood Management (NFM)
  • Support in procuring further flood risk services 
  • Guidance on resources so businesses can improve preparedness and recoverability
  • Indicative costings of mitigation options

These services will provide a wide range of benefits. With support to better understand flood risk, access to the latest information on mitigation measures and guidance on maintaining insurance cover, we’re playing a key role in helping Aviva customers build resilience to flooding.

Meet the JBA Aviva Specialist Partner team

Shelley Evans

Shelley is the Project Manager for the Aviva Specialist Partner Relationship. With 11 years’ experience manging multi-disciplined teams within the flood resilience and the research sector, Shelley is an expert in, and leads JBA’s technical direction for Property Flood Resilience (PFR). Shelley manages a diverse range of complex flood resilience projects for clients including Defra, EA, Network Rail. She also sits on a number of industry working groups including the Defra PFR Roundtable (steering committee), Flood Re PFR Expert Working Group and is a company director and founding member of the PFR trade association IPFRA.

Emily Christopherson-Smith

Emily is the JBA project coordinator for the Aviva specialist partner relationship and is a senior analyst and Lead PFR surveyor in the flood resilience and emergency planning team. She has project managed PFR schemes at residential and commercial properties nationwide and works closely with clients and communities to help improve flood resilience. Emily works on innovative flood risk research and projects including two of the Environment Agency’s Flood and Coastal Resilience Innovation Programmes.
