Did you know there are many different career opportunities at JBA? We are scientists, engineers, environmental consultants, software developers and designers – we’re also marketers, trainers, accountants, payroll specialists and many more.
And because we have such a diverse range of professional opportunities here at JBA, there are lots of different ways you can find your career with us. Read on to discover how I moved from a career in secondary school teaching to JBA’s Learning and Development (L&D) team.
A change of direction
I joined the Learning and Development team in 2020, after leaving my career as a secondary school art teacher – in the middle of a global pandemic. At first I was anxious to begin something new, especially as the world adjusted to new ways of working. However JBA’s one-team ethos and the support of my colleagues enabled me to quickly settle into my new role. I think that’s one of my favourite things about working for JBA – the people and the continued support offered. It’s a lovely place to work.
I’m often the first point of contact for the delegates attending our courses. And I really enjoy being able to support the entire process from client enquiry to completion of the training, helping delegates with any queries and supporting their learning experience with us.
Transferable skills
When I accepted the job, I had a lot of transferable skills from my teaching role that I was keen to put into practice. I’m now responsible for the coordination of our external training offering. Working with clients to determine their training needs and organising our trainers to deliver the work. My role provides me with an opportunity to speak with clients from all over the country (and beyond!), which makes each day different and incredibly interesting.
