The Water Framework Directive (WFD) makes fisheries science an increasingly important branch of ecology. Our fisheries technical specialists are able to offer a broad range of services that consider and design for fish populations and that dovetail with our broader ecology, hydromorphology and engineering services offering. This includes technical and non-technical fish pass design, hydraulic habitat modelling, fisheries impact assessment and screening design.
Our fisheries specialists have considerable experience of working within and for the Fisheries function of the Environment Agency in England. This practical experience of the regulatory viewpoint is often very valuable and helps drive efficiency into our project delivery.
How we can help you
We can assist you to design a project that provides benefits for fish populations, a key driver of the WFD. We have in-depth experience of working with regulators to enable projects to proceed and can deliver a holistic solution that meets broader ecology, water management and flood risk considerations.
Our staff are experts on fisheries ecology, management and regulation, and can develop solutions to meet any fisheries requirements, to support bespoke projects affecting the aquatic environment or wider catchment and river restoration initiatives.
