Senior & Principal Civil/Environmental Engineers

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced engineer with a background in UK based civil, structural or geotechnical engineering to lead the delivery of a range of environmental improvement, flood risk and infrastructure schemes. We are ideally looking to recruit at various grades, most notably Senior and Principal, so please apply if you meet most of the eligibility criteria below.

You will join our new multidisciplinary team of engineers, ecologists and geomorphologists to deliver a range of civil and environmental engineering projects that promote nature-based solutions and climate resilience, including natural flood management.

This varied and exciting role will involve the provision of project leadership, governance and technical accountability on a variety of appraisal, design and construction projects. With a background in a relevant engineering discipline, you will be primarily focused on delivering environment restoration and enhancements but will also extend to developing flood risk and civil infrastructure solutions. You will work with a range of public, private and third sector clients including the Environment Agency, water companies, lead local flood authorities, rivers and wildlife trusts.

You will mentor and manage staff, input to bid and tender preparation and play a key role in the growth and development of our engineering team going forwards. There will also be opportunities to contribute to business development activities in this sector across the wider JBA Group.

Duties will include:

  • End to end project management, including contracts, budgetary control, specification preparation, programmes, change and risks.
  • Technical leadership of the design process to develop sustainable and resilient solutions and project deliverables that meet client needs.
  • Development and coordination of multi-disciplinary teams and subcontractors.
  • Championing technical innovation to improve efficiency and quality of delivery, ensuring effective engagement and uptake of latest methodologies and tools.
  • Building positive relationships with clients and colleagues and key stakeholders.
  • Leading Safety in Design and Designer’s responsibilities under CDM and compliance with environmental legislation.
  • Leading and supporting winning tender opportunities.
  • Developing and mentoring junior members of staff.
  • Professional development is encouraged and will be fully supported and, should you aspire to, opportunities for progression into team leadership or a managerial role.

Location:

The post will be based in either our Skipton, BD23 3FD or Saltaire, BD18 3LF office and will involve a combination of office, site and remote working. JBA supports agile working which provides for greater flexibility.

Qualifications and experience

Candidates will hold a degree or equivalent qualification in a civil, structural or geotechnical engineering subject and ideally be at or working towards a professional qualification.

We are seeking committed and enthusiastic individuals with an interest in sustainability who can demonstrate effective communication and team working skills.

A full UK driving licence is required for this role.
