Rebalancing river lateral connectivity: An interdisciplinary focus for research and management
- Contribution by:Hemsworth, M.

Lateral connectivity between rivers and terrestrial landscapes is essential for their health. Human activities have degraded these connections, leading river management to reconnect rivers with floodplains, riparian zones, and wetlands. This review highlights the bidirectional nature of lateral connectivity and the concept of "lateral connectivity balance." More research is needed to understand and restore these connections.
