We were asked to refurbish four pumping stations to the north of Gainsborough in Lincolnshire, namely Ravensfleet, Whoofer, Jenny Hurn & Susworth, managed by the Scunthorpe and Gainsborough Water Management Board.
Refurbishing Ravensfleet in isolation would ignore the significant opportunity to create a more efficient, effective and sustainable system in the area from Morton to the River Eau.
Whilst parts of the high and low level watercourse systems are managed by both the Board and the Environment Agency we are carrying out a strategic overview of the assets and systems to identify potential rationalisations, improvements, and savings, test various change options and support whole life evidenced based decisions.
Options being reviewed include merging low lying catchments, combining highland water / Main River systems, decommissioning of Whoofer and Jenny Hurn to permit flow into Ravensfleet, and other key watercourse / river and outfall improvements.
Our Total Catchment Management approach aims to reduce whole life Operational and Capital expenditure whilst sustaining standards of protection related to Water Level Management.
