Celebrating a milestone in our journey to a resilient future

At JBA, we believe that science and the arts go hand-in-hand when it comes to telling the story of our work and our climate resilience ambitions. To mark our 30th anniversary, we’ve commissioned a special commemorative illustration that captures our journey, impact, and industry relationships in a truly creative and meaningful way. Harnessing the power of the arts and storytelling

Over the years, we have come to recognise the power of integrating the arts into how we engage with complex issues such as climate change and environmental challenges, enabling us to communicate these concepts and our role in building resilience.

The projects JBA undertake affect local communities and people's daily lives. We must ensure the work we undertake is easily understandable and accessible, rather than becoming a barrier due to its intricacies and scientific nature. If we’re trying to foster awareness, cooperation, advocacy, equality and inclusion, we need to connect with people. And that’s where the arts and storytelling come in.

Creativity, collaboration and celebration

Through our continued exploration of using the arts as a communication tool, our ability to reach broader audiences continues to grow. We have successfully partnered with a range of creatives - poets, photographers, performance artists and animators. Helping us make technical topics that are often too abstract, difficult, or just too dry to grapple with, relatable and memorable.

To celebrate our 30th birthday, we are further embracing this philosophy through a special collaboration with talented illustrator Sam Osborne. Together, we have created a commemorative illustration that visually captures our journey, our people, the relationships we have built across the industry, and our developing impact on the environment, showcasing everything that makes JBA what it is today.

Exploring our past and looking to the future

The creative process involved sharing ideas, stories, and projects, taking time to reflect on the work JBA has achieved, its impact, and our ambition for the future. Sam’s creative eye and artistic expression have brought all of this to life in a monumental illustration that is full of creativity and insight. This innovative collaboration has enabled us to shape something fun and meaningful. The illustration serves as an engaging visual talking point for our clients, partners, and our people, with a copy of the illustration on display in all our offices.

This commemorative piece explores our history, authenticity, and purpose. It showcases our continuous efforts to be innovative, adaptive and leaders in our field. Providing lasting impact that connects our work to communities using sustainable methods.

We are excited to share this with you, not just as a celebration of the past, but as a creative step forward in how we communicate, collaborate, and lead into the future.
