Are you interested in Water and Environment Flood Risk Management and looking to join a dynamic and growing company whilst working to achieve a BSc degree qualification? 

We are seeking enthusiastic Trainee Water and Environment Flood Risk Management Apprentice to join our growing environmental consultancy teams and complete a five-year environmental IEMA accredited apprenticeship. A degree apprenticeship is a fantastic alternative to a traditional campus-based programme, with the opportunity to earn a salary whilst still achieving a Bachelor of Science (BSc) Environmental Science degree. 

Candidates will be required to build a knowledge of water, environment and flood risk management and will possess an interest in developing and progressing a career in environmental consultancy. Working with clients across the public, private and third sectors, candidates will support our teams with the delivery of a wide range of projects, including hydrological assessments, hydraulic modelling studies, options appraisal, flood risk assessments, strategic flood risk assessments and resilience studies. 

Both permanent and fixed term roles are available. The roles would be well suited to those looking for a career change or just starting out on their career path. 

  • The apprenticeship

    Following completion of probation and successful apprenticeship enrolment, apprenticeships would start in Autumn 2024. Study will be undertaken in the form of day or block release at university combined with supported workplace training, working to achieve a BSc in Environmental Science.

  • Location

    Posts will be based at our Coleshill, Haywards Heath, Newcastle, Skipton, Doncaster or Warrington offices. With apprenticeship courses delivered by Coventry University and Brighton University.  

    JBA supports agile working which provides for greater flexibility with the way that we work. 

  • Entry requirements

    By 31 August 2024, you will need:

    • To be over the age of 18  
    • The right to live and work and live in the UK to qualify for funding 
    • At least 5 GCSEs or equivalent (Grades 9 to 4 (A* to C)) including Maths and English 
    • A minimum of 112 UCAS tariff points or equivalent (equivalent to BBC at A-level, preferably including Science) 
    • A valid UK driving licence or be seeking to undertake your driving test 
    • Sufficient I.T. skills to learn relevant software tools under supervision, i.e. GIS, Microsoft Word and Excel. 

    Entry requirements for those currently in employment will be based on meeting funding eligibility and requirements of both the training provider and JBA Consulting.
