Honouring those shaping the future of the water and environmental sector
The CIWEM Presidential Awards honour individuals who are driving meaningful change across the water and environmental sector through their commitment, creativity, and leadership.
This year’s nominations showcase how the sector is adapting to the growing climate emergency, with a strong emphasis on collaborative, community-focused approaches that prioritise resilience, inclusivity, and long-term sustainability.
We’re thrilled to congratulate Senior Environmental Analyst, Jack Dudman, nominated for the Global Innovation Award, and Technical Director, Mark Bentley, nominated for the Long Service Award at the CIWEM Presidential Awards.
These well-deserved nominations highlight Jack and Mark’s outstanding contributions to the water and environmental sector, reflecting their unwavering dedication, forward-thinking innovation, and inspiring leadership.
"To hear I'd been shortlisted for the CIWEM Presidential awards for global innovation was a very proud moment for me and I'm hugely grateful to Jenny Grist for nominating me. I've always appreciated the innovative and flexible culture that JBA has to encourage me to discover new and efficient ways to complete my work, and taking on the lead for AI business tools and digital upskilling at the company has been a great way for me to help provide those opportunities to others. At the same time, being a part of CIWEM means being able to network beyond my organisation and discover the fantastic work being undertaken in the sector. I enjoy the wide variety of interesting events that CIWEM runs and I've been proud to give back to the institution through my work on the North Western and North Wales branch committee over the past few years. I'm excited to attend the CIWEM Annual Dinner to demonstrate JBA's leading efforts on innovation, and also learn more about how others across the industry are exploring innovative opportunities."
Senior Environmental Analyst, Jack Dudman
"The email on Wednesday was a lovely surprise, especially as I had no idea that Maxine Zaidman had nominated me. It's very touching that she felt I should be put forward for this award.
Since I attended my first CIWEM meeting in 1988 (the Flood and Coastal Group winter meeting at London Zoo) I knew it was the institution for me. Despite studying a Civil Engineering degree, CIWEM fitted best with my work in the field of hydraulic and environmental modelling. Over the years, it has been a pleasure to give back to the institution through mentoring JBA colleagues, conducting numerous Professional Interviews and contributing to the institution through my time on the Professional Standards Committee. I still plan to continue that involvement for many years to come."
Technical Director, Mark Bentley
