Senior Hydrologist

We are seeking to recruit an experienced hydrologist to work as part of a highly motivated and successful team in our Warrington office. The successful candidate will have in-depth experience of delivering a range of hydrological studies and will be responsible for leading hydrological studies, technically supervising/reviewing work completed by others and developing the expertise of junior members of staff.
The position is based in Warrington within our hydraulic modelling team, although you will also be expected to work in an integrated and collaborative way with other teams across the resource group and company.
The team delivers hydrology and river modelling for a wide range of studies including flood risk mapping projects, flood alleviation schemes, flood risk assessments, flood warning and other water management projects. Key clients include the Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency, United Utilities, Local Authorities and a wide range of private clients.

Qualifications and experience
The successful candidate will have very robust working experience (meeting the essential expertise outlined) and will have a proven track record in delivering high-quality assessments on time and to budget. Ideally, the candidate should be Chartered with a relevant institution or working towards Chartership. There are also opportunities for more experienced candidates to join the business at Principal level.
We are looking for a hard-working, committed and enthusiastic individual, who can demonstrate effective communication and team working skills.
Essential expertise required:
- In-depth experienced practitioner level experience of the preparation of high-flow design flood estimates in accordance with the Flood Estimation Handbook
- Low flow expertise including the use of LFE software, flow data analysis and flow duration curve development.
Desirable expertise:
- Water resource modelling skills, for example using Aquator or PyWR modelling
- Hydraulic modelling expertise, experience of applying design hydrology into hydraulic models including calibration/verification processes
- Experience in continuous simulations methods
- Reservoir flood hydrology (preparation of design hydrology up to the Probable Maximum Flow).
A valid UK driving licence will be advantageous.
