Do you have an interest in Engineering and want to join a dynamic and growing company whilst working to achieve a Level 3 qualification?

To meet our growing business needs we are looking for a motivated Apprentice Technician with the ability to support projects and work pro-actively with clients and construction teams. This is a fantastic opportunity to earn whilst you work towards completing a HNC qualification.  

The successful candidates will play a key role in the delivery of infrastructure projects for flood and coastal management, railways, reservoirs, highways and green engineering. Working with clients across the public, private and third sectors, candidates will report to a Senior Technician/Engineer and will assist our engineering teams in the delivery, appraisal, investigation, detailed design and construction of these schemes.   

The roles would be well suited to those looking for a career change or just starting out on their career path. 

  • The course

    Following completion of probation and successful course enrolment, the HNC course would start in Autumn 2024. Study will be undertaken in the form of day release at Edinburgh College combined with supported workplace training, working to achieve a HNC Civil Engineering qualification.

  • Location

    This post will be based in our Edinburgh office with the HNC course based at Edinburgh College.  

    JBA supports agile working which provides for greater flexibility with the way that we work. Within this role there may be occasions where travel between offices or onto site are required. 

  • Entry requirements

    By 31 August 2024, you will need:

    • To be over the age of 18  
    • The right to live and work and live in the UK  
    • Pass at National 5 Maths or equivalent 
    • Two Highers at C or above in Mathematics or Physics or equivalent 
    • Sufficient I.T. skills to learn relevant software tools under supervision, i.e. CAD, Microsoft Word and Excel
    • A valid UK driving licence or be seeking to undertake your driving test. 

    Entry requirements for those currently in employment will be based on meeting funding eligibility and requirements of both the training provider and JBA Consulting.
