This two day course will give you an introduction to 1D and 2D hydraulic modelling using the Flood Modeller suite. Practical exercises based on actual case studies will be used as an integral part of the teaching.
You will have access to the Flood Modeller software for the course. You will be provided with example data files and worked solutions.
This course is aimed at managers, engineers and modellers requiring an overview of the capabilities of the Flood Modeller system and practical tuition on the use of Flood Modeller.
By the end of this course you will have an overview of the Flood Modeller software and be able to use the software to build and run 1D and 2D hydrodynamic models.
Ben Gibson BSc MSc MCIWEM C.WEM
Ben is a Chartered Senior Analyst and is an experienced hydraulic modeller specialising in the development and review of 1D and 1D/2D models. He is an advanced user of GIS and develops flood risk models in software including ESTRY, Flood Modeller, JFlow and TUFLOW. Ben is a reviewer of models developed both internally and externally on behalf of clients.
David Kearney BSc MSc MCIWEM C.WEM
David is a Technical Director at JBA and an experienced hydraulic modeller with over 10 years’ experience. He has led the development of many ISIS/Flood Modeller models for public and private sector clients, from models for small flood risk assessments to larger scale models along the Rivers Soar, Severn & Avon. David regularly carries out technical reviews of ISIS/Flood Modeller models, offering advice on model stability, both internally and on behalf of clients. David has experience of both managing and working as a technical lead on hydrological and hydraulic modelling studies.
Stuart Marshfield BSc MSc
Stuart is an Analyst and leads a team of hydraulic modellers at JBA’s head office in Skipton. He has over four years’ experience and specialises in developing and reviewing 1D, 2D and 1D-2D linked models in Flood Modeller, ESTRY-TUFLOW and HEC-RAS. Since joining JBA, Stuart has been the modelling lead for several flood modelling and mapping studies, working to derive fluvial design flood extents for the Environment Agency, local authorities and in support of flood risk assessments. Stuart regularly reviews models internally for JBA projects and for external clients and frequently offers technical support on model stability and schematisation.
