We are seeking an experienced Town & Country Planning Consultant to join either our Newcastle upon Tyne, Saltaire or Warrington office (location flexible). As part of our dynamic planning team, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of exciting and varied projects for the Environment Agency, SEPA and NRW, local authorities and private sector clients throughout the UK
Our planning team has a national remit that will provide the successful candidate with an interesting and challenging workload, and the opportunity to work on a diverse of projects with a focus on flood and coastal erosion risk management.
Main responsibilities of this role include being responsible for managing multi-disciplinary technical teams, co-ordinating the submission of a range of planning applications for a variety of schemes and advising on the promotion of strategic land-use allocations.
The right candidate will:
- Prepare planning appraisals, applications and appeal statements and other formal written advice
- Contribute to the formulation of client planning strategies, including identifying potential planning risks and opportunities, and contributing to the formulation of project programmes
- Co-ordinate development applications and ensuring that all relevant regulatory processes are fulfilled on behalf of the client.
The role is based in either our Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Saltaire or Warrington office.

Qualifications and experience
Key competencies required for the role:
You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, a successful history of working with clients at all levels, and a passion for quality and excellence of service.
This role would suit someone looking to take the next step in their career to include a management and business development role within the planning and development sector.
Who we’re looking for:
The right candidate will have solid relevant experience ideally gained through a career in either a local authority or private consultancy.
You will have insight and experience of applying flood risk and environmental evidence to strategic planning policy and development control and will ideally be RTPI Chartered (or working towards Chartership).
