Hydrologists – all grades

We are looking for hydrologists, from entry level to senior positions, to contribute to the continued growth of our successful business, based in Warrington.  The role will involve development of new business, management of projects, technical supervision of staff and liaison with clients.  You will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects mainly involving flood studies but there would also be opportunities in water resources investigations, hydro-ecology, research and training.  JBA carries out a large volume of hydrological work including high-profile studies for the Environment Agency, other environmental regulators, local authorities, water companies, insurance companies, developers, infrastructure maintainers and overseas clients.

Qualifications and experience

We are looking for hard working, well organised, motivated, enthusiastic, flexible individuals who have the effective communication skills to liaise with clients and grow our services.

Applicants should have a relevant degree and a postgraduate qualification in hydrology and have an excellent technical background with substantial and proven relevant commercial experience.  Chartered or approaching chartered status is desirable.

The ideal candidate will have an excellent knowledge of UK hydrology (floods, water resources and other subjects) and the market for hydrological services in the UK, together with the ability for innovative thinking and a strong analytical and problem-solving background.  The role may fit an experienced hydraulic modeller who can demonstrate specialist skills in hydrology.

We are looking for someone who can:

• manage the delivery of complex hydrological projects
• liaise will clients and partners throughout the public and private sector
• contribute new skills and experiences to JBA, and challenge established ideas
• mentor and coach junior staff
• prepare proposals and responses to tender opportunities
• direct JBA specialist teams in supporting clients’ projects
• identify skill gaps, training needs and new staff requirements
