Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Would you like to work with a dynamic and growing environmental engineering consulting company?

We are seeking two Senior Geotechnical Engineers with experience in geotechnical design modelling software, for an immediate start to join our team within our growing Leeds office.  The successful candidates will provide technical support to civil/structural engineering problems, within a multi-disciplined design office.  They will report to a Geotechnical Technical Director and will be pivotal to the delivery of a range of engineering and environmental improvement projects, including options appraisal, concept design and detailed scheme design.  They will be given the opportunity to mentor and supervise junior staff, oversee site works, and provide input to bid and tender preparation.

One post will be based in our city centre Leeds office (LS1 2HL).  The second post will also be based in Leeds, or alternatively at our Peterborough office (PE3 6SB) if requested.  Both positions will have opportunity to work closely with engineers and other technical staff from across the wider JBA group.  You would be joining a dynamic team who are enjoying project success which has been recognised by recent industry awards.

Qualifications and experience

A degree in civil engineering or geology, preferably with postgraduate geotechnical qualification is required.  The applicants will be expected to be working towards, or have already gained, membership of the ICE, the Geological Society or other appropriate institution.

Competency in PLAXIS/CADS/WALLAP is essential and an appreciation of other specialist geotechnical packages such as SLOPE/SEEP/SIGMA (GeoStudio) would be highly advantageous.

JBA Consulting is a client-focused organisation.  Excellent report writing and effective communication skills are therefore essential to this role.  Candidates should have a sound appreciation for engineering principles and good analytical skills for problem solving.  Self-motivation and a high degree of organisation are also considered key attributes.

A valid UK driving license is required.
