Are you passionate about the environment and have proven field work experience?

JBA Consulting have been successful in being appointed to carry out LUCAS throughout Ireland in the summer of 2022. The purpose of LUCAS is to collect data on land cover / land use and agri-environmental data by the field observation of thousands of survey points.  All the observations will be recorded via the use of a digital field data collection system, with information then being input into the LUCAS Data Management Tool software for quality control and processing. The survey will also incorporate specialist modules of soil sampling at one in ten locations, and a grassland survey of a selected points.

JBA are therefore looking to employ on Fixed Term Contracts an adequate number of qualified (minimum of a secondary degree or equivalent) surveyors with education in geography, environmental sciences, biology, agriculture or another relevant field. We are looking for suitable staff located throughout the Republic of Ireland. Employment will start in April or May 2022, with full training being provided, and will finish in September 2022. The role is fully field based. The intension is to allocate each surveyor with survey points close to their normal place of residence, initially working near home and then gradually travelling further afield, and then staying away from home, as required.

Working outside in variable weather will sometimes be required. There may be the need to work outside normal working hours, stay away from home during the week and the ability to adapt to varied and different working environments is important.  Site work will involve lone working under a Safe System of Work.

These roles are based in the Republic of Ireland and are fully field based.
