Due to our continued leading role in the delivery of Natural Flood Management (NFM) projects for a range of clients across the UK we are looking for environmental scientists / modellers in flood risk management, particularly those with NFM experience, to join our teams in Skipton, North Yorkshire and / or Saltaire, West Yorkshire. This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated individual to help deliver catchment scale NFM projects and other flood modelling projects within a Consultancy environment. The positions provide an opportunity to make a significant contribution these disciplines, as well as informing the national evidence base on NFM.
You will have the opportunity to manage, or support the management of, projects that will explore the implementation of a range of NFM interventions, which will help catchments become more resilient to flooding in the future whilst delivering a number of other benefits to the environment and society. This is a rewarding, but challenging post and you will need excellent project management, client relationship and organisational skills to manage delivery whilst developing close relationships with project partners. The nature of these projects is that they involve a large number of stakeholders with a broad range of backgrounds and aspirations which significantly adds to the challenges and rewards of successful delivery.

The role is based in our head office Skipton, BD23 3FD or in our office in the World Heritage Site village of Saltaire, BD18 3LF although some UK travel will be required.
Qualifications and experience
Key competencies required for the role:
You will have an environmental or physical science related qualification, degree or equivalent.
Chartered status (ICE, CIWEM) is important to JBA and valued by our clients therefore applicants should either be chartered or show a desire to work towards becoming chartered.
Who we’re looking for:
We are looking for well organised, motivated, enthusiastic and flexible individuals who can work on their own or as part of a team. You should have an interest in water and the wider environment and be able to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
You must have previous experience and a good understanding of catchment management, soils, flood hydrology and hydraulic modelling as well as the current strategic thinking around the incorporation of NFM as an integral part of the flood risk management toolbox.
A valid UK driving licence would be beneficial.
