At JBA, we strive to share our knowledge, research and most innovative projects with the wider community of water and environmental scientists – for the advancement of understanding and innovation among researchers and practitioners within the sector.
This week, we have four JBA Consulting colleagues presenting to a global audience at the EGU General Assembly on topics ranging from flood forecasting and integrated flood risk management to engineering hydrology.
The EGU General Assembly brings together geoscientists from across the world, covering all disciplines of the Earth, planetary and space sciences. This year delegates welcome the opportunity to meet in person or attend on-line, following two years of the event being held virtually.

Starting off the contributions from JBA Consulting on Monday 23 May, Technical Director Dr John Bevington will be presenting about the international development work we have undertaken relating to disaster risk financing and flood risk: Disaster Risk Financing systems for fluvial flood risk in Democratic Republic of Congo and Pakistan.
Following this on Monday 23 May, Flood Risk Analyst Heather Forbes will be presenting about developments in surface water flood forecasting within in our Flood Foresight monitoring and forecasting platform: Improving resilience through a surface water flooding decision support system. Duncan Faulkner is JBA’s Head of Hydrology and a regular presenter at international conferences. At EGU this year Duncan will be discussing How to illuminate the twilight world of engineering hydrology in a presentation on Wednesday 25 May.
Friday 27 May 2022
On the final day of the conference Friday 27 May, Head of Environmental Modelling Dr Barry Hankin will continue the international development project theme with a presentation on Integrated flood risk management prioritization in Indonesia.
