Our Directors got together this week for a two-hour Equality, Diversity and Inclusion workshop. Rachel Brisley lead the session which prompted some excellent discussions and gave them all much to think about. The workshop coincides with National Inclusion Week which is an annual campaign run by Inclusive Employers. It aims to raise awareness of the importance of inclusion in the workplace and the business benefits to having a diverse and included workforce.
For National Inclusion Week 2017 the theme is ‘Connect for Inclusion.’ Inclusive Employers are asking everyone to step out of their familiar daily networks and meet other people; people who may say or do things in ways that are different to the way we say or do things, people who have had experiences unlike our own. If we connect with other people, we’ll have an opportunity to gain new perspectives and ideas that may help us grow stronger and reshape how inclusive our organisations can be.
Connect for inclusion at JBA
We are all ‘one team’ and this week, we are encouraging staff to take the opportunity to connect with people from different teams and offices. To take a minute to lift their heads from that report or bid that’s due. To make a connection with a client or colleague they have not spoken to in a while, or to call that new member of staff that they haven’t yet picked up the phone to say hello to.
We are committed to continuing to make our company an inclusive and diverse workplace – somewhere we will all continue, now and into the future, to be proud to work. Over the next 12 months and beyond, we will be promoting Equality, Diversity and Inclusion with different themes and actions.
