To expand our services and continue to meet our clients’ needs we have appointed Kirsten Holland who is joining us as a Principal Archaeological and Heritage Specialist.
Kirsten has over 15 years’ experience in the delivery of archaeological and heritage services, including at WYG where she led their heritage team, whilst she has most recently been working as a freelance consultant. Active within the wider profession, Kirsten sits on the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists Board of Directors and the Advisory Panel developing Guidelines for Cultural Heritage Impact Assessment.
“This is an exciting opportunity for me to develop an in-house Archaeology and Heritage service for JBA, adding value and integrating the consideration of the historic environment into the early phases of a project.”
“We are already seeing the benefits of this collaborative working at Wings Across the Ings in South Yorkshire where the delivery of a programme of archaeological evaluation has informed the design of a new flood alleviation and nature reserve. This has allowed the preservation of important buried archaeological remains, whilst at the same time reducing the potential cost for mitigation and earthworks” Kirsten added.
Continuing the collaborative theme, Kirsten has been working with colleagues at JBA for several months on a portfolio of projects including the development of flood alleviation measures and a nature reserve, mine water treatment schemes, asset renewals on behalf of the Environment Agency, and providing historic landscape support to an updated Landscape Character Assessment.
Our environmental specialists can help take public and private sector projects from initial concept, where desk studies and feasibility are considered, through to design and implementation, with any particular management strategies. Within Archaeology and Heritage, we can help with:
- Development and design advice
- Desk-based assessment
- Heritage Statements
- Design, procurement and implementation of archaeological surveys
- Investigations and liaison with consultees and stakeholders.
