Pre-course webinar – 2nd February 2021
Module 1 – 8th February 2021
Module 2 – 10th February 2021
Post-course webinar 2nd March 2021
What does this course cover?
Designed to give attendees an overview of the essential role hydromorphology and geomorphogical dynamics play in river design and management, this introductory course is ideal for those seeking a catchment-wide perspective for flood relief planning, Water Framework Directive related compliance and strategic restoration studies.
Knowledge of river hydromorphology and geomorphological dynamics is fundamental for sustainable river design and management. It facilitates the assessment of risk, increases understanding within the Environmental Impact Assessment process, helps alleviate flooding impacts and informs instream flow requirements, system restoration and ecology.
By the end of this series of webinars and training modules you will have an understanding of how geomorphology is used in regards to sustainable river management, the methods used in geomorphological assessment and fluvial audit and where river geomorphology can be usefully applied to indicate where further guidance and information can be found.
About the trainer
Delivering our Introduction to hydromorphology and fluvial geomorphology will be Technical Director and Fluvial Geomorphology expert, Matt Hemsworth, who has professional specialist experience in applying fluvial geomorphology in construction, river restoration, sediment transport, hydraulic modelling and Natural Flood Management.
