Last week Tim Bates, JBA Group’s Health and Safety Adviser, graduated from his NEBOSH Diploma. The ceremony took place at Warwick University, where Tim was supported by his wife and two children.
Tim graduated with a high ‘credit’ in NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety. He commented, “I am extremely pleased with passing my diploma with such a high credit. The course is really intense and marks are not easily won from the NEBOSH awarding body.”
That however wasn’t the end of Tim’s achievements. He was also presented with a silver salver for the ‘Richard Booth award for Unit B Best Candidate’. The award was given for achieving the highest grade in ‘Unit B – Hazardous Agents in the Workplace’.
Unit B focuses on the risk to employee’s health in the workplace, from the activities undertaken or substances used (e.g. stress, chemicals, noise etc). There were over 2,000 people taking the exam in 2016/2017 and so Tim is delighted to be awarded the best candidate honour. The award was presented and sponsored by the British Safety Council.
Marc Pinnell, JBA Consulting Managing Director, commented, “We are extremely proud of Tim and are very supporting of his, and others’, professional development in critical business areas. Ensuring Health and Safety is managed well is incredibly important to us. We have a duty of care to ensure everybody, staff and clients alike, are safe. Tim works tirelessly with colleagues to achieve this across the company’s many disciplines.”
JBA Consulting’s key Health and Safety priorities this year are lone working, driving and working near water. This reflects the vast amounts of staff we have out on site throughout the year, and the many implications involved in this. Our Group Health and Safety policy outlines our commitment further.
VIP for a day
Tim’s diploma training was provided by Astutis during 2015/2016. He then undertook a great deal of study in his own time to achieve the full Diploma.
In celebration of his achievement Tim and his family enjoyed VIP treatment from NEBOSH on the day. Tim therefore got to rub shoulders with the great and good in Health and Safety including Martin Temple CBE, Chair of the Health and Safety Executive, and Sir Bill Callaghan, NEBOSH Chairman.
To top the day off, Tim was interviewed by NEBOSH for their website and promotions as well as lots of industry press photos to celebrate.
