The third webinar in our digital series will introduce you to the various types of culverts, screens and outfalls and how they can be used in the effective management of flood risk and drainage.

We will also explore current design concepts and discuss the importance of the latest guidance documented in CIRA’s latest Culvert, Screen & Outfall Manual, C786 (2019).

About the presenter

Jeremy Benn, JBA Consulting’s Executive Chair has over 35 years’ professional specialist experience in water engineering, management and hydrology. Having worked on projects around the globe, Jeremy has a wealth of experience and a vast knowledge and interest in computational hydraulics and hydrological modelling.

A recognised expert in the design and operation of culverts, screens and drainage outfalls, Jeremy edited the CIRIA’s most recent Culvert, Screen & Outfall Manual (C786), and has been delivering a CIRIA training course on the new manual and guidance.

Jeremy also contributed to the CIRA ‘Culvert Design and Operation Guide’ (2010), CIRIA ‘Scour Manual’ (2014) and ‘CIRA River Guide’ (2016) and was lead author of the 2005 Independent Review of Internal Drainage Boards of the UK Government and co-author of the ‘Floodplain modelling using HEC-RAS’ textbook.
