Breaking ground on sheltered accommodation apartments in the Isle of Man

Following the demolition of the old social housing on the Mayfield site in Ramsey, Isle of Man, planning approval was received for a new sheltered accommodation apartment block. The site is located alongside Queens Pier Road which is part of the road racing course for the famous TT Races. The development consists of 36 apartments on three levels with a communal lounge and facilities to enhance the comfort for residents.

JBA (IoM) Ltd are the civil and structural design engineers for the development. Given the poor ground bearing conditions with a layer of peat and soft soil conditions, the building will be founded on piles.

To celebrate the start of construction, a sod cutting ceremony took place on 1 October 2018. Attendees included members of the Ramsey and Northern District Housing Committee, with the chairwoman leading the celebrations undertaking the first cut, Isle of Man Government Ministers, members of the design team and the contractor.

JBA in the Isle of Man for three years

Our Isle of Man office celebrated its 3rd anniversary in September, almost 45 years since Holmes Grace started which is what the Isle of Man company was called before it joined JBA. We have come a long way since 2015 due to everyone’s hard work and commitment – here’s to the next 3 years and more!
