Building resilience to climate change is a must for all organisations to ensure that your assets, operations, staff and customers can stand up to the impacts of extreme weather now and in the future.
With that in mind we have teamed up with Climate Sense to offer training on best practice in climate change adaptation, incorporating the requirements of the first standard to be published in this area: ISO14090 (adaptation to climate change – principles, requirements and guidelines). The training brings in aspects of the recently published ISO 14091 (adaption to climate change – guidelines on vulnerability, impacts and risk assessment).
We’ve also created a free online course to introduce you to the concepts of ISO14090, and a structured three module training programme to bring you up to speed on all of the requirements, enabling you to build your organisation’s capacity to meet climate change requirements.
Earlier this year we ran a successful introductory course with a mix of Canadian public sector organisations and JBA colleagues. The course was welcomed and valued by attendees and we received the following feedback.
“I feel much more knowledgeable about what is in the standard, the language used (e.g. shall, may etc) and why the elements are in there”
“Great to have presentations from those involved in the development of the standard.”
“The course was excellent and the trainers were extremely knowledgeable. The examples were useful throughout the two days and the content and interaction kept my attention throughout”
The training will enable you to understand your current resilience, identify current and future climate risks, and make a start on or improve your adaptation planning within the framework of the internationally recognised standard. Interaction is maximised and the training focuses on how you can apply the concepts to your own experience, wherever you are located, and whatever sector you work in, whilst understanding what others have done through the use of case studies.
