Don’t miss out, be sure to submit your application before the deadline of midnight Monday 9th December. Applications for graduate positions in our Engineering and Software/Systems Development teams will remain open throughout 2020.
This week, we’ve been talking with Katherine Ashworth who is currently on the JBA Consulting graduate development scheme.
Katherine Ashworth tells us about her experience of the JBA graduate scheme
Tell us about your experiences so far?
I heard about JBA at a careers event at university and by having an awareness of their industry presence from their frequent posts on LinkedIn. I applied for the graduate scheme because I had some experience of using hydraulic modelling software at university but knew this was something I was interested in.
The graduate scheme offers the opportunity to move around disciplines within the office which is something I found very appealing, ranging from water resources to hydrology to modelling and there is even a chance to move around offices countrywide. Since starting at JBA I have been involved in various modelling and mapping projects which involve producing new linked 1D-2D models to update the reliability of flood maps and to assess the flood risk informing potential future developers.
The welcome to JBA day and other training courses are highlights so far as it was a great way to get to know many other graduates in similar roles to be able to share ideas and widen my knowledge.
Advice for anyone considering applying?
My advice for anyone thinking about applying is do it! Firstly, try and gain some consultancy experience to make you stand out. Take time on your application and try to get across as much of your personality as you can. Good luck!
