Our 2020 Graduate Recruitment is open

Applications for graduate positions in our Environmental Management and Water Management/Geoscience teams are now open, with interviews and appointments following in the New Year.  Applications for graduate positions in our Engineering and Software/Systems Development teams are also open for applications and will remain open throughout 2020.

Graduate Scheme

Successful applicants will participate in our Graduate Scheme, a flexible two-year in-house development programme specifically aimed at providing a comprehensive foundation for graduates’ future careers with us. During this time, you’ll contribute to exciting and innovative projects whilst working alongside technical specialists and industry experts, giving you the opportunity to learn about different facets of our business, to work with a wide range of staff and to try different disciplines first-hand.

If you’d like to know more about our Graduate Scheme, here is one of our current graduate scheme participants to share their experiences with you.

Tell us about your experiences so far?

I started on the graduate scheme at JBA Consulting 4 months ago, working in the Peterborough office as a graduate geologist. Since starting I have experienced a broad range of projects including large coastal flood defence schemes as well as smaller flood defence and waterways projects.

Any highlights?

A highlight for me so far is the variability of the work. Already I have visited several sites in various stages of construction, and at various stages of ground investigation. I have completed site walkovers to spec future ground investigations, assisted in the mobilisation of ground investigation and completed ground investigation work myself – logging, sampling and in-sit testing – alongside colleagues from other offices.

Your advice for anyone considering applying?

Still relatively new to the world of work, I have already learnt a lot about the company and the industry particularly through weekly lunchtime questions and discussions organised by JBA. These are a good way to familiarise myself with other sectors of the company which I have not yet experienced in my day-to-day work, as well as working with other graduates and colleagues from the office. There is support and encouragement for professional development, through webinars, external speakers and a training budget, and I look forward to continuing mine and completing the graduate scheme.

Our thanks to Alice Boyd for her insight into the JBA graduate scheme. Next week we’ll feature more participants’ experiences of their time on our graduate scheme.
