  • Civil Engineering – Scotland

    Civil Engineer Apprentices play a key role in the delivery of infrastructure projects for flood and coastal management, railways, reservoirs, highways and green engineering. Working with clients and construction teams across the public, private and third sectors.  

    Apprentices have varied responsibilities and duties that may include:

    • Helping to develop and deliver asset inspections  
    • Contributing to options appraisals and concept designs  
    • Developing detailed scheme designs  
    • Supporting wider teams with all aspects of civil engineering 

    The Apprenticeship

    Apprentices on this pathway work towards achieving a Civil Engineer Degree (BEng).  

    Study is undertaken with The University of Strathclyde or Heriot-Watt University  and is combined with supported workplace training.

    Location

    Roles are available at our Glasgow office. 

    Entry requirements

    For those looking to apply for this apprenticeship, by the end of July 2026, you will need: 

    • To be over the age of 18  
    • The right to live and work in the Scotland and to ordinarily have been resident in the UK for the last 3 years to qualify for funding 
    • To live within a commutable distance (up to a maximum of 1 hour travel time) of the office you are applying to 
    • A valid UK driving licence or be seeking to undertake your driving test 
    • Sufficient I.T. skills to learn relevant software tools under supervision, i.e. CAD, Microsoft Word and Excel 

    You will also need a Pass at National 5 Maths or equivalent and one of the following qualifications:

    • SQA Highers at AABB or BBBBC, including Maths  
    • A-Levels at ABC or BBB​ 
    • Scottish Baccalaureate Pass​ 
    • Int. Baccalaureate 29 points​ 
    • Foundation Apprenticeship in Civil Engineering in conjunction with SQA Highers at AAB, including Maths 
    • A combination of qualifications totalling 96 SCQF credits at level 6 or Minimum 126 UCAS points 

    Entry requirements for those currently in employment will be based on meeting funding eligibility and requirements of both the training provider and JBA Consulting.

  • Civil Engineering – England

    Civil Engineer Apprentices play a key role in delivering infrastructure projects across flood and coastal management, railways, reservoirs, highways and green engineering. Working with clients and construction teams across the public, private and third sectors.  

    Apprentices have varied responsibilities and duties which may include:   

    • Helping to develop and deliver asset inspections
    • Contributing to options appraisals and concept designs
    • Developing detailed scheme designs
    • Supporting wider teams with all aspects of civil engineering

    All of which help provide solutions that combine traditional engineering methods, new products and technologies, nature-inspired approaches, and non-structural measures such as flood warning and emergency planning. With the aim of being low-carbon in their construction, operation, and decommissioning, while enhancing the environment and providing wider benefits to the communities in which we work.

    The Apprenticeship

    Apprentices on this pathway work towards achieving a BEng ICE-accredited degree qualification via study on the Level 6 Civil Engineer Apprenticeship. The details of the apprenticeship can be found in the apprenticeship standard here.

    Study is combined with supported workplace training and is undertaken weekly or via block release with Universities across England.  

    Location

    Roles are available in our Haywards Heath, Leeds, Peterborough, Warrington and York offices. 

    Entry requirements

    For those looking to apply for this apprenticeship, by the end of August 2026, you will need:

    • To be over the age of 18  
    • The right to live and work in the UK and to have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least the last 3 years to qualify for funding 
    • Five GCSEs or equivalent (Grades 9 to 6 (A* to B)) including Maths, English and Science 
    • A minimum of 120 UCAS tariff points at level 3 (e.g. A-level grades BBB) including Maths, or equivalent 
    • To live within a commutable distance (up to a maximum of 1 hour travel time) of the office you are applying to 
    • A valid UK driving licence or be seeking to undertake your driving test 
    • Sufficient I.T. skills to learn relevant software tools under supervision, i.e. CAD, Microsoft Word and Excel 

    Entry requirements for those currently in employment will be based on meeting funding eligibility and requirements of both the training provider and JBA Consulting.

  • Engineering Digital Design

    Digital Designer Apprentices play a key role in delivering infrastructure projects for flood and coastal management, railways, reservoirs, highways and green engineering. Working with clients and construction teams across the public, private and third sectors.  

    Apprentices have varied responsibilities and duties that may include:

    • Assisting in the preparation of project drawings and BIM models, understanding, interpreting, and implementing client & company CAD standards and BIM data requirements 
    • Collaborating with engineers, consultants and technicians from multiple disciplines
    • Learning to ensure compliance with Health and Safety and apply safe systems of work, including the CDM Regulations 
    • Contributing to the minimisation of the environmental impact of construction projects
    • Controlling  the quality of works
    • Ensuring compliance with equality, diversity, inclusion and ethical standards

    The Apprenticeship

    Apprentices on this pathway work towards achieving Level 4 qualification via study on the Civil Engineering Senior Technician Apprenticeship. The details of the apprenticeship can be found in the apprenticeship standard here 

    Study is undertaken via day release with London South Bank University or London Design & Engineering and is combined with supported workplace training.

    Location

    Roles are available in our Haywards Heath office. 

    Entry Requirements

    For those looking to apply for this apprenticeship, by the end of August 2026, you will need:

    • To be over the age of 18  
    • The right to live and work and live in the UK and to have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least the last 3 years to qualify for funding  
    • Five GCSEs or equivalent (Grades 9 to 4 (A* to C)) including Maths and English 
    • A minimum of 112 UCAS tariff points at A-level (e.g. grades BBC), including Maths or physics; or BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma MPP in an Engineering subject area or a Construction and Built Environment area. BTECs must include Mathematics and Further Mathematics.  
    • To live within a commutable distance (up to a maximum of 1 hour travel time) of the office you are applying to 
    • A valid UK driving licence or be seeking to undertake your driving test 
    • Sufficient I.T. skills to learn relevant software tools under supervision, i.e. CAD, Microsoft Word and Excel 

    Entry requirements for those currently in employment will be based on meeting funding eligibility and requirements of both the training provider and JBA Consulting.

  • Asset Management

    Apprentices working in Asset Management support teams assist in delivering a wide range of projects, from field-based surveying and asset inspection, to whole-life-asset-cycle activities. 

    Being both practical and collaborative, apprentices help build solutions that assess asset health, improve reliability and contribute towards achieving carbon and biodiversity targets. 

    By combining engineering expertise, innovative data solutions and risk-based thinking, our asset management services support smarter, stronger and more resilient assets for companies, their stakeholders and the environment. 

    On this pathway: 

    • Apprentices based at our Skipton office will support the Environment Agency and other key asset owners in understanding their assets and keeping them performing. Helping to provide safe, cost-effective and resilient solutions.  
    • Apprentices based at our Doncaster office will support the Shire Group of IDBs to manage Drainage District assets in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, including 50 pumping stations and 1,500km of Ordinary Watercourses.     • Apprentices at our Wallingford office will build knowledge of geospatial data and use Geographic Information Systems to manipulate and analyse data, combining technical expertise, analytics, and digital modelling to keep assets performing safely, compliantly, and cost-effectively.

    The Apprenticeship

    Apprentices on this pathway work towards achieving a Level 3, 4 or 6 (BSc degree) qualification via study on one of the following apprenticeship standards.

    Location

    Asset management apprentice roles are available at the following offices:

    • Asset Manager – Doncaster and Skipton 
    • Geospatial Mapper – Wallingford

    Entry Requirements

    To apply for this apprenticeship, by the end of August 2026, you will need:

    • To be over the age of 18  
    • The right to live and work in the UK and to have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least the last 3 years to qualify for funding
    • To live within a commutable distance (up to a maximum of 1 hour travel time) of the office you are applying to

    You will also need the following qualifications:

    • For levels 3, 4 & 6 – At least 5 GCSEs or equivalent (Grades 9 to 4 (A* to C)) including Maths and English 
    • For level 4 – A minimum of 80 UCAS tariff points at Level 3 (e.g. A-level grades BB) or equivalent 
    • For level 6 – A minimum of 120 UCAS tariff points at Level 3 (e.g. A-level grades BBB) or equivalent including at least one STEM subject 
    • Entry requirements for those currently in employment will be based on meeting funding eligibility and requirements of both the training provider and JBA Consulting
  • Digital Marketing

    Our dynamic Marketing team is expanding to meet the needs of our growing company. Apprentices working in our Marketing team work with several teams across all discipline areas of the company whilst completing a degree qualification. 

    Duties may include: 

    • Writing and creating content for different audiences 
    • Writing and creating content across different digital and social channels 
    • Supporting on different elements of campaigns across the marketing mix 
    • Creating campaign plans for digital marketing campaigns 
    • Writing briefs for the design team 
    • Analysing and reporting on campaign performance 

    The Apprenticeship

    Apprentices on this pathway work towards achieving a BA /BSc degree qualification via study on the Level 6 Digital Marketer apprenticeship. Details of the apprenticeship can be found in the apprenticeship standard here.  

    Study is Undertaken block release with Manchester Metropolitan University and combined with supported workplace training.

    Location

    This role is available at our Skipton office.

    Entry Requirements

    To apply for this apprenticeship, by the end of August 2026, you will need:

    • To be over the age of 18  
    • The right to live and work in the UK and to have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least the last 3 years to qualify for funding 
    • At least 5 GCSEs or equivalent (Grades 9 to 4 (A* to C)) including Maths and English
    • A minimum of 112 UCAS tariff points at Level 3 (e.g. A-level grades BBC) or equivalent
    • To live within a commutable distance (up to a maximum of 1 hour travel time) of the office you are applying to

    Entry requirements for those currently in employment will be based on meeting funding eligibility and requirements of both the training provider and JBA Consulting.

  • Environmental Practice

    Apprentices working in Environmental, Water and Sustainability teams are involved with the delivery of a wide range of projects, in ecology, hydrology, catchment restoration, natural flood management, flood risk management and flood modelling. Apprentices in these teams have varied responsibilities and duties that involve:

    • Helping to deliver projects that improve river health, biodiversity, and climate resilience
    • Supporting sustainable design solutions for clients across public, private and third sectors
    • Contributing to flood risk reduction, catchment restoration and environmental protection

    The Apprenticeship

    Apprentices on this pathway work towards achieving a BSc degree qualification via study on the Level 6 Environmental Practitioner apprenticeship. The details of the apprenticeship can be found in the apprenticeship standard here.  

    Study is undertaken either weekly or via block release with Coventry UniversityUniversity of the West of England or Harper Adams and is combined with supported workplace training.

    Location

    Roles are available in our Bristol, Doncaster, Exeter, Leeds, Peterborough, Saltaire, Skipton, Wallingford and Warrington offices.

    Entry Requirements

    To apply for this apprenticeship, by the end of August 2026, you will need:

    • To be over the age of 18  
    • The right to live and work and live in the UK and to have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least the last 3 years to qualify for funding 
    • At least 5 GCSEs or equivalent (Grades 9 to 4 (A* to C)) including Maths and English 
    • A minimum of 120 UCAS tariff points (e.g. A-level grades BBB) or equivalent 
    • To live within a commutable distance (up to a maximum of 1 hour travel time) of the office you are applying to 
    • A valid UK driving licence or be seeking to undertake your driving test 
    • Sufficient I.T. skills to learn relevant software tools under supervision, i.e., GIS, Microsoft Word and Excel. 

    Entry requirements for those currently in employment will be based on meeting funding eligibility and requirements of both the training provider and JBA Consulting. 

  • Software Development

    Our Technology, Data and Software Development (TDSD) group has a dynamic and growing software development team expanding to meet the needs of new and existing clients.  The team works on a wide range of projects, for example:

    • Creating software solutions for Asset Management 
    • Creating software for meteorological and hydrological model calculations 
    • Creating tools to process geospatial data 
    • Using satellite data to detect land surface changes and flood inundation.  

    Apprentices working in TDSD have varied responsibilities and duties assisting in the design, creation and testing of code used in such projects.

    The Apprenticeship

    Apprentices on this pathway work towards achieving a BSc degree qualification via study on the Level 6 Digital & Technology Solutions; Software Engineer apprenticeship. Details of the apprenticeship can be found in the apprenticeship standard here.  

    Study is undertaken with either QA University of Roehampton via remote learning or Nottingham Trent University as block release, and is combined with supported workplace training. 

    Location

    Roles are available in our Skipton, Peterborough and Wallingford offices.

    Entry Requirements

    To apply for this apprenticeship, by the end of August 2026, you will need:

    • To be over the age of 18  
    • The right to live and work in the UK and, have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least the last 3 years to qualify for funding 
    • At least 5 GCSEs or equivalent (Grades 9 to 6 (A* to B)) including Maths and English 
    • A minimum of 136 UCAS tariff points at Level 3 (e.g. A-level grades AAB) or equivalent including at least one STEM subject 
    • To live within a commutable distance (up to a maximum of 1 hour travel time) of the office you are applying to. 

    Entry requirements for those currently in employment will be based on meeting funding eligibility and requirements of both the training provider and JBA Consulting.

  • Project Support

    Project Support apprentices are an integral part of our Project Support team, bringing a focus on project delivery, fresh ideas, passion, and a strong desire to learn and grow. Project Support apprentices work across all discipline areas of the company whilst completing a Level 4 qualification. 

    Gaining hands-on experience in data management, financial administration, and team collaboration – all while being supported to achieve the highest standards of quality and compliance.

    The Apprenticeship

    Apprentices on this pathway will work towards achieving a Level 4 apprenticeship in accordance with the Associate Project Manager apprenticeship standard which can be viewed here.

    Study is undertaken via virtual delivery, on a weekly basis, with Heart of England Training Ltd combined with supported workplace training. 

    Location

    The role is available in our Leeds office.

    Entry requirements

    For those looking to apply for this apprenticeship, by the end of August 2026, you will need:

    • To be over the age of 18  
    • The right to live and work and live in the UK and to have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least the last 3 years to qualify for funding 
    • Five GCSEs or equivalent (Grades 9 to 4 (A* to C)) including Maths and English 
    • A minimum of 80 UCAS tariff points (e.g. A-level grades BB) or equivalent  
    • To live within a commutable distance of the office you are applying to 
    • Sufficient I.T. skills to learn relevant software tools under supervision, i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel

    Entry requirements for those currently in employment will be based on meeting funding eligibility and requirements of both the training provider and JBA Consulting.

  • Digital Learning Design

    We are an established provider of technical training on topics related to water and environmental management. Our 10-strong Talent and Training team, based at our head office in Skipton, supports JBA technical experts across all stages of training development and delivery.

    The team includes one current apprentice and three former apprentices all at different career stages, with areas of expertise including Learning and Development and Business Administration.

    Within the Talent and Training team, Digital Learning Designer Apprentices would undertake duties including:

    • Supporting our Senior Learning Designers with day-to-day tasks, including the administration of our digital learning library 
    • Assisting other team members with a range of learning and development responsibilities, including supporting delivery of face-to-face and virtual classroom courses 
    • Creating digital multi-media resources including videos and graphics, to support digital learning courses 
    • Contributing to the creation and maintenance of JBA’s digital learning materials.

    The Apprenticeship

    Apprentices on this pathway work towards achieving a Level 5 qualification via study on the Digital Learning Designer apprenticeship standard found here here.  

    Study is undertaken via virtual delivery with SCCU Training and combined with supported workplace training.

    Location

    The role is available in our Skipton office.

    Entry requirements

    To apply for this apprenticeship, by the end of August 2026, you will need:

    • To be over the age of 18  
    • The right to live and work in the UK and to have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least the last 3 years to qualify for funding 
    • To live within a commutable distance (up to a maximum of 1 hour travel time) of the office you are applying to 
    • At least 5 GCSEs or equivalent (Grades 9 to 4 (A* to C)) including Maths and English 
    • A minimum of 96 UCAS tariff points at Level 3 (e.g. A-level grades CCC) or equivalent.

    Entry requirements for those currently in employment will be based on meeting funding eligibility and requirements of both the training provider and JBA Consulting.

  • Business Analysis

    Our Technology, Data and Software Development (TDSD) group has a dynamic and growing Business Analysis team, expanding to meet the needs of new and existing clients. The team works on a wide range of projects, for example:

    • Working with clients to define user requirements for software solutions including Asset Management, geospatial systems and land use change/flood inundation systems 
    • Running workshops to help elicit requirements and ideas   
    • Working with our software development and testing teams to help translate these requirements into real-world applications.

    Apprentices working in TDSD have a passion for technology and system development. Responsibilities and duties are varied, extending to much of the system development lifecycle and ranging from contributing requirements for new business proposals, to writing non-functional and technical requirements.

    Apprentices on this pathway work towards achieving either a Level 4 or 6 (BSc degree) qualification via study on one of the following apprenticeship standards:
