Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability Practitioner
Our growing Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability team has a diverse and interesting workload focused on stakeholder engagement, sustainability, communications and delivering social value benefits to our projects and the wider community. Apprentices working within this team have varied responsibilities and duties which may include:
- Stakeholder engagement including:
– Supporting the creation of stakeholder engagement plans
– Engaging with local communities in the community, i.e. helping to deliver community drop-in events, or visiting local schools.
– Developing reports to assist with planning consents
– Preparing engagement event materials such as posters and leaflets - Supporting on projects to deliver wider benefits to local communities including:
– Collating and analysing data to inform community Local Needs Assessments.
– Collating and reporting on project social value activities.
The Apprenticeship
Apprentices on this pathway work towards achieving a Level 4 apprenticeship in accordance with the Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability apprenticeship standard which can be viewed here. Undertaking regular study with Coventry University combined with supported workplace training.
Location
Roles are available in our Coleshill office.
Entry Requirements
To apply for this apprenticeship, by the end of August 2025, you will need:
- To be over the age of 18
- The right to live and work and live in the UK to qualify for funding
- Five GCSEs or equivalent (Grades 9 to 4 (A* to C)) including Maths and English
- A minimum of 80 UCAS tariff points or equivalent (equivalent to BB at A-level)
- To live within a commutable distance of the office you are applying to
- Sufficient I.T. skills to learn relevant software tools under supervision, i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint
Entry requirements for those currently in employment will be based on meeting funding eligibility and requirements of both the training provider and JBA Consulting.
- Stakeholder engagement including:

Environmental and Flood Risk Management
Apprentices working in Environmental and Flood Risk Management support teams with the delivery of a wide range of projects, including:
- Hydrological assessments
- Hydraulic modelling studies
- Options appraisal
- Flood risk assessments
- Strategic flood risk assessments
- Resilience studies.
Apprentices are supported to build knowledge of water, environment and flood risk management. Working with clients across the public, private and third sectors.
The Apprenticeship
Apprentices on this pathway work towards achieving a BSc degree qualification via study on the Level 6 Environmental Practitioner apprenticeship. The apprenticeship standard can be viewed here. Study is undertaken either weekly or via block release with Coventry University or The University of the West of England and is combined with supported workplace training.
Location
Roles are available in our Coleshill, Haywards Heath (West Sussex) and Newport/Bristol offices.
Entry Requirements
To apply for this apprenticeship, by the end of August 2024, you will need:
- To be over the age of 18
- The right to live and work and live in the UK to qualify for funding
- At least 5 GCSEs or equivalent (Grades 9 to 4 (A* to C)) including Maths and English
- A minimum of 112 UCAS tariff points or equivalent (equivalent to BBC at A-level)
- To live within a commutable distance of the office you are applying to
- A valid UK driving licence or be seeking to undertake your driving test
- Sufficient I.T. skills to learn relevant software tools under supervision, i.e., GIS, Microsoft Word and Excel.
Entry requirements for those currently in employment will be based on meeting funding eligibility and requirements of both the training provider and JBA Consulting.

Project Support
Apprentices working in Project Support have varied responsibilities and duties working with a number of teams across all discipline areas whilst completing a level 4 qualification. Duties may include:
- Project support to our teams throughout the project lifecycle, including:
– Data and information management
– Producing and formatting reports and figures
– Monitoring project costs and progress in Excel / MS Project
– Building Information Modelling (BIM) compliance. - Financial administration – ensuring invoicing to and payment from clients
- Taking and distributing meeting minutes
- Collation of information/data to support the management team in line with Common Data Environments.
The Apprenticeship
Apprentices on this pathway work towards achieving a Level 4 apprenticeship in accordance with the Associate Project Manager apprenticeship standard which can be viewed here. Undertaking study (virtual delivery) on a weekly basis with Heart of England Training Ltd combined with supported workplace training.

Roles are available in our Skipton, Haywards Heath (West Sussex) and Portsmouth offices.

Civil Engineer
Civil Engineer Apprentices play a key role in the delivery of infrastructure projects for flood and coastal management, railways, reservoirs, highways and green engineering. Working with clients and construction teams across the public, private and third sectors.
Apprentices have varied responsibilities and duties that may include:
- Development and delivery of asset inspection
- Options appraisals
- Concept designs
- Detailed scheme designs.
The Apprenticeship
Apprentices on this pathway work towards achieving Level 3, 4 or 6 (BEng ICE accredited degree) qualifications via study on the following apprenticeships:
- Level 3 Civil Engineer Technician – Apprenticeship standard here
- Level 4 Senior Technician – Apprenticeship standard here
- Level 6 Civil Engineer– Apprenticeship standard here.
Study is undertaken weekly at college or university (various across England) and is combined with supported workplace training.

Roles are available in our Leeds, Peterborough, Tadcaster, Haywards Heath (West Sussex), Newport/Bristol and Newcastle offices.

Software Developer
Our Technology, Data and Software Development (TDSD) group has a dynamic and growing software development team, expanding to meet the needs of new and existing clients. The team work on a wide range of projects, for example:
- Creating software for meteorological and hydrological model calculations
- Creating tools to process geospatial data
- Using satellite data to detect land surface changes and flood inundation.
Apprentices working in TDSD have varied responsibilities and duties assisting in the design, creation and testing of code used in such projects.
The Apprenticeship
Apprentices on this pathway work towards achieving a BSc (Hons) degree qualification via study on the Level 6 Digital & Technology Solutions; Software Engineer apprenticeship. The apprenticeship standard can be viewed here.
Study is undertaken weekly with either Leeds Beckett University or Anglia Ruskin University and combined with supported workplace training.
Location
Roles are available in our Skipton and Peterborough offices.
Entry Requirements
To apply for this apprenticeship, by the end of August 2025, you will need:
- To be over the age of 18
- The right to live and work in the UK to qualify for funding
- At least 5 GCSEs or equivalent (Grades 9 to 4 (A* to C)) including Maths and English
- A minimum of 112 UCAS tariff points at Level 3 (e.g. A Level) or equivalent including at least one STEM subject
- To live within a commutable distance of the office you are applying to.
