GIS Modelling Tools
We have developed a number of customised toolsets for use in hydrological modelling and flood mapping. The 2D Modelling Toolbox is an ArcToolbox model, which enables the generation of flood outlines from 2D model outputs (such as, TUFLOW and JBA’s JFlow-GPU software). The resulting flood outline is a polygon in the ArcGIS shapefile format.
The Watershed Toolbox is an ArcMap v9 software extension that has been developed to perform a variety of simple yet effective GIS functions for catchment-scale analysis.
We have also developed a set of Topographic Screening Tools using ArcGIS Spatial Analyst to identify areas at risk to pluvial flooding where combinations of topographic features, such as, low gradient, water flow routes and sink points, increase the risk of problems from surface water flow and ponding.
