Wales

Our capabilities and experience in Wales are extensive and long standing, giving us the benefit of localised knowledge and experience, essential in offering you an informed and quality service.  As of October 2009, JBA are pleased to announce the opening of their first office in Wales - in Newport, Gwent.  Further details on the story can be viewed here.

JBA works in partnership with the Environment Agency Wales on the Strategic Flood Risk Management Framework.  Our wide ranging involvement includes the following:

  • Updating the Flood Map through both broad scale modelling techniques and detailed flood risk mapping studies.

  • Undertaking three Catchment Flood Management Plans in Wales used to inform the long-term policy for flood risk management.

  • Undertaking a programme of defining and categorizing potential Flood Warning Areas across North Wales.

  • Reviewing models supplied to Environment Agency Wales from Flood Consequence Assessments in support of development proposals.

  • Constructing flood forecasting models to be used in real time to predict flooding and to trigger issue of flood warnings.

Outside of the Environment Agency Wales, we have been at the forefront of the application of TAN15 (Technical Advice Note 15) that deals with flood risk in the Welsh planning system and is substantially different from the English equivalent (PPS25).

On a more local level we have also undertaken many Flood Consequence Assessments for individual development sites in Wales.
