Assistant Coastal Analyst/Engineer

We are currently seeking a graduate scientist or engineer to join our Coastal Risk Management team. The focus of this team is the marine environment and its risks and opportunities. These include the risks of flooding and erosion along with opportunities for developing tidal stream and wave technologies. Our team has a strong focus on R&D and the development of innovative analysis and modelling techniques.

The successful candidate for this post will be expected to assist in analytical and modelling work related to coastal flooding and forecasting.

The position is based in our Skipton office.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants are expected to have a BSc or MSc in Oceanography, Engineering or a relevant Geo-science. Applicants should have a strong scientific background gained through a relevant degree and/or a previously held professional position. Knowledge or experience with respect to some or all of the following will be advantageous:

Numerical modelling (e.g. sediment transport modelling, flood inundation, wave transformation, wave overtopping, water quality)
Extreme sea level and wave analysis
Coastal flood defence design and engineering
Coastal geomorphology
Flood forecasting
Climate change
Wave and tidal-stream energy technology
Statistical analysis
Geographical Information Systems ( GIS is used extensively on all our projects)
